President William Ruto has inspected the ongoing construction of the Ksh2.2 billion Loitoktok Affordable Housing Project in Kajiado County as the government steps up efforts to expand access to decent housing.
Ruto said the project is part of his administration’s commitment to ensuring Kenyans across different income levels can access affordable and dignified homes.
According to the President, the housing development will also help address pressure on agricultural land by promoting planned urban settlements and reducing the continued subdivision of productive farmland.

“Beyond providing quality housing, these developments will help ease pressure on agricultural land by creating planned urban settlements and reducing the continued sub-division of productive farmland,” Ruto said.
During his visit to Kajiado South Constituency, the President also laid the foundation stone for the construction of student hostels at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
The Ksh220 million project will comprise a modern 580-bed student village aimed at providing affordable and secure accommodation to KMTC trainees.
Ruto said the hostels will ease the financial burden faced by students who currently pay high rents while also reducing the distance some trainees have to travel to attend classes.

“The 580-bed modern students’ village will provide KMTC trainees with safe, dignified and affordable accommodation, ending the burden of high rent and long walks to class that many students have endured,” he said.
The two projects form part of the government’s wider investments in housing and social infrastructure, with the President maintaining that planned development can improve living conditions while supporting access to essential services.
The Loitoktok housing project is expected to provide residents with modern housing units as the government continues to roll out its Affordable Housing Programme across the country.
Ruto Bomet development tour
President William Ruto is expected to inspect and commission several development projects during his upcoming tour of Bomet County, with affordable housing, healthcare and other infrastructure projects likely to feature prominently on his itinerary.
