Bomet University College (BUC) has officially announced the rescheduling of its End of Semester I, 2025/2026 Academic Year examinations.
Initially set to begin on December 2025, the exams have been postponed by two weeks and are now scheduled to commence on January 6 to 20, 2026.
The announcement was made via an internal memo dated November 17, 2025, from the Office of the Deputy Principal (Academic and Student Affairs) stated that the change was made to "take into account the academic calendar requirements and are intended to ensure smooth preparation and administration of the examinations.
The unrest follows recent lecturer strikes and confusion surrounding the academic calendar. Traditionally, end-of-semester examinations at BUC are conducted in January.
However, this year the administration proposed moving the exams to December, citing the university’s preparation for the long-awaited charter expected on 27th November.

The university management strongly advised students to take note of the new dates and make the necessary preparations in advance.
"Students are reminded that they are only eligible to sit for the examinations and to access examination cards upon clearing all outstanding university fees," the notice read.
It further emphasized, "No student will be allowed to sit for any paper without fulfilling the required fee obligations."
Students underlined the importance of the new schedule saying that the time provided will give them room to plan well for the exams after a long lecturer’s strike which disrupted learning.
"This adjustment provides a critical window for students to finalize their course work and prepare adequately. It's about ensuring academic rigor and fairness," Caleb Korir told Bomet Newswire.
The rescheduling is an administrative move intended to align the examination period with institutional-wide academic requirements, ensuring all units have the necessary time for completion and revision before the final assessments.
