Bomet University College has indefinitely suspended a student following a physical altercation during an ongoing examination session.
The student, identified as Elizabeth Nyanchoka Nyandika, was served with a suspension letter on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, following a reported incident earlier as the semester 1 exams continues.
"You are hereby instructed to vacate the University precincts as you await further directions," the memo stated.
Details of the Incident
According to the official report from the Office of the Registrar, Academic Affairs, the incident occurred during the LIN 110: Introduction to the Study of Language examination.
The university alleges that Ms. Nyandika physically assaulted a lecturer during the session. While the specific motive behind the altercation has not been disclosed, the administration moved swiftly to address what they termed "gross misconduct.
According to witnesses, the incident escalated when the student reportedly resisted questioning by invigilators, defending Dr. Anyonnje and threatening to forcibly reclaim her examination paper.

The confrontation caused significant disruption, drawing the attention of both students and academic staff present.
In response, university authorities launched disciplinary proceedings. Following deliberations, the student was suspended indefinitely, effective immediately, and instructed to vacate the university premises while awaiting further directions.
The Bomet University College Student Organization (BUCSO) has been notified of the development, though they have yet to issue an official statement regarding the welfare or defense of the student involved.

But to be honest from my view after looking at the video... The lady was tensed and it shouldn't be called an assault but rather just exam irregularity... She had no choice and verily I say there's something called panic disorder where one acts abnormally after panic. I'm not saying that cheating is right and it should be greatly discouraged but after being cough being a first year she was in a tense ld mode and we have peers in campus who might have adviced her that "if cought, behave in such a way to clear evidence" I could even hear her saying to the lecturer, "I respect you",despite attempting to snatch her mwakenya back
