Residents of Nyongores Ward have welcomed the start of construction on the Kyogong-Kapkemoi Road, a 1.7-kilometre stretch expected to significantly improve transportation, boost local trade, and enhance access across the region.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held earlier this week, was presided over by the area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Samoei Chemurkeldet, who urged community members to support the project to ensure its timely completion.

“This road is not just a development project—it represents progress, opportunity, and connectivity for the people of Nyongores,” said Hon. Chemurkeldet. “I call upon all residents, especially those whose land borders the road, to cooperate and provide the necessary support for the greater good of the community.”

Local residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, which they say has been long overdue.

“We are grateful to the MCA for delivering on his promise. For years, poor road conditions have held us back. This project brings real hope,” said Jane Kamoin, a Nyongores resident.

The Kyogong-Kapkemoi Road is one of several ongoing infrastructure projects championed by Hon. Chemurkeldet. The recently completed FG Kyogong Road has already improved mobility in the area, while construction continues on the 2-kilometre Mulo–Happy Child Road.

These road projects are part of the MCA’s broader development agenda aimed at improving accessibility and stimulating economic activity throughout Nyongores Ward.

“Infrastructure is the foundation of sustainable development,” Hon. Chemurkeldet noted. “With better roads, we can unlock new opportunities for our farmers, traders, and schoolchildren.”

As construction gets underway, the community is hopeful that the new road will mark the beginning of a transformative chapter for the ward.
