In a pioneering move aimed at transforming healthcare delivery in rural and underserved regions, Bomet County is exploring a strategic partnership with Kasha Kenya Limited (KASHA), a tech-driven platform specializing in the last-mile distribution of health products and essential household goods.

The groundbreaking partnership is expected to address critical gaps in healthcare access, especially for patients with chronic illnesses who require long-term care.

The collaboration was discussed during a high-level consultative meeting in Bomet, attended by senior officials from the County Department of Health Services, including County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Dr. Joseph Sitonik and Chief Officer Felix Langat. The KASHA team, led by Country Director Joel Kuria, was also present to engage in detailed discussions on the partnership.

Dr. Sitonik, the CECM for Health Services, explained the primary goal of the collaboration: improving access, adherence, and continuity of care for patients managing chronic conditions. He emphasized the importance of KASHA’s innovative direct-to-client delivery model.

“This partnership presents a unique opportunity to overcome the logistical challenges that hinder access to medication, particularly for patients managing long-term illnesses from home.

By leveraging technology and Kasha’s extensive distribution network, we can ensure timely delivery of essential drugs right to the patient’s doorstep,” Dr. Sitonik said.

Kasha Kenya has developed a model that ensures medical products and household goods are delivered confidentially, affordably, and efficiently. According to Joel Kuria, Kasha’s Country Director, this approach is particularly valuable for home-based care, where privacy and convenience are essential.

“Our mission is to make healthcare products accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live. Partnering with Bomet County aligns perfectly with our goal of strengthening health systems at the grassroots level. We’re not just delivering products; we’re delivering dignity, choice, and continuity of care,”Kuria stated.

Felix Langat, Bomet’s Chief Officer for Health, commended the initiative, describing it as a significant step forward in modernizing healthcare within the county.

“This is the future of healthcare—tech-driven, patient-centered, and responsive to community needs. We are keen to fast-track this process and formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),” Langat noted. He added that Bomet County remains committed to fostering innovations that directly benefit its residents.

“It’s no longer about waiting in line at a clinic. It’s about bringing the clinic to the patient’s home,” Langat added, underscoring the transformative potential of the initiative.

The Bomet County Department of Health Services is currently drafting the MoU, which will define the scope, responsibilities, and implementation framework of the partnership. Once finalized and signed, the collaboration will be rolled out in phases, beginning with high-need areas and gradually expanding to cover the entire county.

As Bomet County continues to lead in community health innovations and SHA registration, the partnership with Kasha could serve as a model for other counties looking to strengthen their home-based care systems.
