Bomet County’s Chief Officer for Social Services, Gender and Culture, Pauline Korir, has resigned from office.
Speaking to the press in Bomet, Mrs Korir refuted claims she had been sacked in a recent reshuffle saying she left office before the announcement made Friday by Governor Prof Hillary Barchok.
“Bomet Governor Prof Hillary Barchok allowed me to leave through resignation and I took the bold step so that I can secure time to pursue personal interest,” Mrs Korir said.
The Chief Officer said she could not hold onto the position as it would be counterproductive for her new role and public service.
“I must admit before you that as I ventured out, I knew it would not be possible for me to hold on as a chief officer while into my new roles elsewhere at the same time. I am going out to serve in other capacities and will still be very much around,” she state.

Mrs Korir told off allegation and asked people who are concerned to take it easy as she had made the decision to resign consciously.
She heaped praises on Prof Barchok for granting her an opportunity to serve under his administration for the last two years.
“I am leaving with my head held very high, to me I have achieved much because of the support from not only the governor but also residents of Bomet County,” she said.
Mrs Korir said the depart has many programs that he running which are geared at transforming the lives of Bomet Residents.
She single out a campaign against Gender Based Violence which she initiated and had already gained momentum.
“We have started many programs and notable one is the one geared at fighting Gender Based Violence. We have reached many people and the program has picked up momentum and will transform the current situation that is prevailing in the county,” Mrs Korir said.
Also on her score card she said was a empowerment programs targeting various groups in the ward level particularly women.
“We also distributed incubators to various groups in the 25 wards and I know some have picked up and are already doing wonders with production of chicks for sale,” said Mrs Korir.

Her exit has seen Prof Barchok reshuffle his Chief Officers picking Hellen Chepkoech to replace Mrs Pauline Korir at the Gender, Social services and Culture docket.
Also affected by the new changes is Issa Yaro who has been moved from Lands and Urban Planning to Roads and would also act as the Chief officer for Public Works and Transports.
Recently appointed Public Service Chief Officer Haron Kirui will be replacing Mr Isaa Yaro as the Chief officer for Lands, Housing and Urban Planning.
Paul K Mutai take ups the Public Service Docket while Dr Nelson Tore has been appointed as the new Chief Officer for Sports and Youth Affairs. Eng. Simon Chirchir moves to the Trade and Energy Docket.
Prof Barchok in a release through the Communications and Governor Press Director Joy Terer directed the changes to take effect immediately.
He said the changes are meant to ensure uninterrupted and effective services in his administration.
“In order to enhance efficient and effective service delivery to the residents of Bomet, H.E Prof. Hillary Barchok EGH has re-assigned chief Officers to run the county executive,” read the release sent to newsrooms Friday evening.
