The National Police Service has confirmed the recovery of 25 stolen goats in Laikipia County, following a collaborative effort between local community members and security agencies.

The livestock, which was stolen on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, was recovered on Sunday through a coordinated operation in the region.

In a statement dated Monday, September 15, 2025, the NPS stated that the recovery was a direct result of the partnership between members of the Samburu Peace Committee, elders from Kahuho Village, and the area chief.

“Members of the Samburu Peace Committee, working jointly with elders from Kahuho Village and the area chief, successfully recovered 25 goats on Sunday, 14th September 2025. The animals had been stolen on 9th September 2025,” the statement from NPS reads.

The NPS added that the goats have been safely secured at Olmotonyi Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) Camp, and the handover to the rightful owner awaits.

They also confirmed that a multi-agency security team is already pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for the theft and that justice will be brought.

“A multi-agency security team is pursuing leads to ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” the NPS report continues.

The National Police Service commends the exemplary collaborative efforts shown by the peace committee, local elders, and administrative officers, emphasizing that such partnership in this recovery operation is crucial for safeguarding lives and property in the region.
