Favourites, Ngoswani FC were made to sweat before beating hard fighting Enkiu FC 2-0 during the James ole Nakola tournament.
The tournament was held at Maji Moto Community field in Narok South sub county at the
weekend.
James Kiranto and Elijah Mayone scored for the winners.
In the fight for the third position, Olorganayio FC hammered Maji Moto 5-3 in penalties after a barren draw.
In the ladies' category, 11 Sisters had to employ all the tricks before edging out a gutsy Maji Moto Queens 1-0 to bag the title.
In men’s volleyball, determined Ngoswani boys threw everything into attack before dismissing
the Osero Lempere team 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12).
It was an easy sweep match for the champions since Osere Lempere seemed weak throughout the game before making a clean sweep in all the three sets.
The tournament was sponsored by youthful leader James ole Nakola.
The teams were given a full set of playing uniforms, balls, pumps, nets and other playing equipment.
Speaking after the finals, Nakola said that he has started a programme whereby they will be running a series of activities in the holidays.
“During the April holiday, we have athletics among the youths, volleyball, football games for adults and tug of war and the holiday is for talent shows like creative arts, gospel music competition, secular, cultural songs among other creative arts. December leave is
for a mega sports tournament,” said Nakola.
He added that the tournament has been a success to the young talents in the region noting that young players have been scouted to join for Maa FC, one of the top teams in Narok county.
“The good news is that we were able to link two young boys to the best football clubs in Narok County, one boy from Maji Moto Orkishaiki Fc and one from Enkiu Fc both will now be playing for regional at Maa FC club.
The same club is the one that recently produced the young player to an academy in Spain,” he said.
He pledged to register all the teams in the area to competitive leagues so that they can get opportunities and showcase their different talents.
