Security agencies in Tot, Elgeyo Marakwet County, received 41 illegally-held firearms and associated ammunition, which were voluntarily surrendered by local residents.
In a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS) dated Thursday, September 18, 2025, the handover is a significant milestone in the ongoing disarmament campaign aimed at restoring peace and security in the region.
The surrendered firearms have been secured pending further administrative action.
“This large-scale voluntary surrender marks yet another major milestone in the ongoing disarmament campaign aimed at restoring peace and security in the region,” the statement reads.
The NPS further commends the individuals for heeding the call to surrender illegal weapons and urges others still in possession of such arms to follow suit.
They are now appealing to members of the public to continue working closely with security agencies by sharing information on any suspicious activities through the nearest police station.
