Litein Boys’ High School of Kericho county has been shut down indefinitely following a violent protest on Sunday night, during which sections of the institution were set ablaze by the students.
According to reports, the chaos erupted after students were allegedly barred from watching the English Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester City.
The situation turned into a full-scale strike as students resorted to violent acts to vent their frustration at the school administration.
The boys are reported to have switched off lights in all sections of the school making it hard for the police to contain the situation.
They went ahead to storm their neighboring school Litein Girls in not a friendly way before the police intervened chasing them away before the situation worsened.
According to reports and videos shared online, some of the key buildings of the institution were set on fire during the strike.
This strike in Litein Boys was not the first one this year. In July, chaos also erupted after the students allegedly strike over under-cooked rice they were given.
