KNCCI South Rift Director David Mpatiany mourns Raila Odinga as a Towering Statesman

The Director of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) South Rift Region, David Mpatiany, has joined Kenyans in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, describing him as a towering statesman, fearless reformist, and a champion of democracy.

In his condolence message, Mpatiany said Raila’s death had plunged the country into deep sorrow, noting that his life and political journey symbolized resilience, hope, and freedom for millions of Kenyans.

“Kenya has lost not just a political figure, but a man who stood for justice, equality, and good governance. Raila Odinga dedicated his entire life to the struggle for a better Kenya,” he said.

Mpatiany recalled that Raila was instrumental in the push for multi-party democracy and constitutional reforms, often making personal sacrifices in pursuit of national transformation.

He said the opposition leader’s courage to speak truth to power and his vision for a united Kenya inspired generations.

“Through periods of political turbulence, Raila remained steadfast in his dream of a nation where every citizen enjoys dignity, opportunity, and peace. Even his critics respected him for his patriotism and unwavering belief in dialogue,” he added.

The KNCCI South Rift boss said the late Odinga’s leadership extended beyond politics, influencing governance, business, and civic life. He credited Raila for shaping Kenya’s democratic space and defending the right to free expression — values that strengthened national institutions and expanded political inclusion.

“As we mourn this great son of Africa, we must also reflect on the values he lived for: justice, democracy, and unity. His legacy reminds us that true leadership is service, and that freedom of speech remains a cornerstone of our republic,” Mpatiany stated.

He sent condolences to the Odinga family, friends, and supporters, urging Kenyans to remain united in grief and purpose as the country celebrates the life of one of its most iconic leaders.
