Bomet Primary School Headteacher Betty Langat has issued a strong and urgent plea to parents: prioritize the safety of their children during the upcoming national examination period.
The crucial national assessments—the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for Grade 6 learners and the inaugural Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) for Grade 9 candidates—are scheduled to begin this Monday, October 27, 2025.
Speaking to the media after a rehearsal at the school on Friday, October 24, Mrs. Langat stressed that parental vigilance is key, especially given the current weather concerns.
"We have prepared our candidates well academically, but their safety remains paramount," Mrs. Langat stated.
The Headteacher specifically highlighted the unpredictable and heavy rains in the lower parts of the Rift Valley, noting that young candidates are more susceptible to accidents during this season.
"I am urging all our parents to exercise the highest level of care by personally taking their children back and forth from the school throughout this examination period," Mrs. Langat appealed.
She added a stern reminder: "Let's not leave their safety to chance. It is our joint responsibility to see them through these important days."

To ensure their wellbeing, she advised parents to Bring children to the examination centers on time and also Pick them up later in the day after their papers are concluded.
Bomet Primary School will serve as a consolidated examination center this year, hosting a total of 210 candidates for the KPSEA exams.
The learners come from three different centers; the host school itself, the neighbouring Shalom School and a cohort of 15 registered prisoners sitting for the KPSEA exams.
"We will be hosting three schools here, including those from the neighbouring school, Shalom, and a total of 15 prisoners who registered for the KPSEA papers," Mrs. Langat confirmed.
