Teachers in Bomet County are stepping out of the classroom and into team-building and recreational activities, thanks to the support of proactive principals and heads of institutions (HOIs).
These outings, aimed at enhancing staff welfare, are proving to be more than just a break—they are fostering unity, morale, and renewed purpose among educators.
Aron Rono, popularly known as Spokesman, commended school leaders for prioritizing teacher well-being.
“After months of intensive teaching and curriculum implementation, it is refreshing for teachers to take time off, reflect on their achievements, and connect with colleagues outside the school environment,” Rono said.
Rono, a teacher at Lugumek Secondary School, emphasized the importance of tailoring outings to suit different school sizes, noting that even small gestures can significantly boost staff morale.
He encouraged teachers’ welfare groups to continue promoting initiatives that enhance wellness and motivation.
“Staff outings are not just about recreation; they nurture teamwork, unity, and social bonds that extend beyond the workplace,” said Rono, who is also an aspirant for the Bomet KUPPET branch vice chairperson position.

As the academic year progresses and exams draw to a close, these activities are providing educators with a well-deserved opportunity to recharge.
In Bomet County, teacher welfare initiatives are not only recognized but are actively transforming schools into environments where staff morale and collaboration thrive.
Several schools have already embraced the idea. Teachers from Lugumek Secondary School recently visited Kisumu City and held a joint outing with their counterparts from Kamureito Secondary School at Dunga Beach, with the support of Principal Geofrey Rono.
Gorgor High School staff enjoyed a recreational trip to Oinop Kipkeles in Kericho, where facilities such as a sauna and swimming pool offered both relaxation and team-bonding opportunities.
During the second term, Ndaraweta Girls’ teachers participated in a team-building exercise at Rays Hotel, Kericho.
The initiatives, supported by principals and school leaders, have emphasized teamwork, unity of purpose, and strengthened interpersonal relationships among staff.
