Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has said the Linda Mwananchi faction will, at the appropriate time, join forces with the United Opposition to formulate a joint ticket aimed at unseating President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in a presser in Trans Nzoia County on Friday, May 8, 2026, Natembeya dismissed claims of divisions within the opposition, maintaining that the coalition remains intact and that its unity will become clear in due course.
Natembeya also called on opposition leaders to avoid being distracted by the pursuit of political positions, urging them instead to focus on addressing the concerns of Kenyans and advancing the interests of ordinary citizens.
“There are no factions within the United Opposition. When the storm in the ODM party comes to a stop, we in the United Opposition and the Linda Mwananchi will sit down to agree on the way forward and craft a plan on how we will remove Ruto from power,” Natembeya stated.
This comes at a time when the possibility of the two camps uniting ahead of 2027 appears to be a matter of when, not if.
Unity within opposition
A number of leaders within the Linda Mwananchi formation, which is predominantly made up of politicians regarded as rebels within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), have also expressed willingness to partner with the Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka-led formation.

Edwin Sifuna, during recent interviews with local media stations, maintained a hardline stance against his party’s decision to be part of the broad-based government and has shown interest in allying with the opposition team.
