By FELIX KYALO

The County Government of Bomet, through the Department of Lands and in collaboration with Sotik Municipality, has completed the surveying, marking and beaconing of land designated for the proposed Sotik Industrial Park, thereby paving the way for the project's development.

According to a statement by the County Government of Bomet on Saturday June 6, 2026, the exercise marks a pivotal roundabout in the County Government, marking a significant moment.

With its establishment, the Industrial park will attract key investments, bridge the gap of joblessness, create an avenue for revenue generation, and bring hope to the Sotik residents.

“Upon completion of the survey of the entire land earmarked for the Industrial Park, the team proceeded to demarcate the section earmarked for development under Phase One of the project, which is scheduled for implementation during the current financial year, ” part of the statement read.

Following the completion of the survey of the entire parcel earmarked for the project, the team proceeded to demarcate the section set aside for Phase One implementation.

The first phase

The first phase of the project is scheduled to commence during the current financial year.

The surveying and beaconing exercise was led by Sotik Municipality Manager Hon. Benard Ngeno, Director of Lands Survey Mr. David Langat, and Sub-County Administrator Mrs. Emmy Suiyon.

The facility is expected to enhance value addition, create employment opportunities, stimulate local industries, and provide a ready market for farmers and entrepreneurs across the county. This is a major step towards industrialisation and economic empowerment for our people.

Sotik Industrial Park was endorsed in late May, through public participation. Residents of Sotik and Bomet County at large, overwhelmingly raised their hands in support of the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP).

Once finished, Sotik Industrial Park is anticipated to play a key role in boosting local economic growth by backing businesses, encouraging entrepreneurship, and opening new opportunities for residents throughout the county.

“The Industrial Park is expected to serve as a key economic hub, enhancing investment opportunities and boosting revenue generation for Bomet County,” the statement read.

The project is part of broader initiatives by both County government and national Government, aiming to promote industrialization and speed up grassroots economic development.
