President William Ruto has nominated former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion to serve as a member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) as part of the latest round of appointments announced by the Executive Office of the President.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the Executive Office of the President said Sossion had been nominated alongside Antonina Lentoijoni to join the TSC.
Their names have been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting and approval in accordance with the Constitution and relevant laws before formal appointment.
The nominations form part of a broader reshuffle that also includes appointments, promotions and redeployments across senior positions in government.

The statement further announced nominations to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), with the proposed appointments set to take effect upon ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit.
Sossion, a former nominated Member of Parliament, is a veteran educationist and trade unionist who led KNUT for several years, becoming one of the country’s most prominent voices on teachers’ welfare, education policy and labour relations.
His nomination to the TSC places him at the centre of the commission responsible for managing the teaching service, including teacher recruitment, deployment, promotion and discipline.
“Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Co-ordinating Summit in accordance with the Intergovernmental Relations Act,” the statement read.
Those nominated include Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang’a), Silvia C. Apaa (Busia), Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir), Pascalyne Ntang’en Kimkirir (Laikipia), Ken Riaga (Migori), Evalyn Njekuri Abausa (Nakuru) and Mary Ndiritu Kiloi (Nairobi).

The Public Service Commission also approved several promotions and redeployments within the executive.

Among them, Isaac M. Mwaura was promoted and redesignated as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President, while Charles Owino Wahong’o was redeployed from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy as Acting Head of Government Communications and appointed Government Spokesperson in the Executive Office of the President.
“The Head of State and Government also nominated seven individuals for appointment as members of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit in accordance with the Intergovernmental Relations Act.
