Bomet Governor Hillary Kipng’eno Barchok is scheduled for a court mention on Monday, October 12, 2026, in a case in which he and two others face corruption-related charges over an alleged Sh2.7 million benefit linked to companies that traded with the county government.
According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the allegations relate to Barchok’s alleged receipt of a benefit from companies that conducted business with the Bomet County Government in transactions valued at Sh152.3 million.
The transactions reportedly took place between the 2019/2020 and 2024/2025 financial years, according to the commission’s court schedule.
The commission did not provide further details in the schedule on the specific transactions linked to the alleged Sh2.7 million benefit or the identities of the companies involved.
The allegations are yet to be determined in court, and the accused persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Other EACC cases
The commission has also listed several cases involving the recovery of public land allegedly irregularly allocated to private individuals.
Among them is a suit seeking the recovery of public land in Kapropita, Baringo County, valued at Sh60 million. The matter involving Grace Chelagat and 28 others is scheduled for mention at the Kabarnet Environment and Land Court on Wednesday, October 14.
Another case seeks to recover public property in Marigat, valued at Sh15 million, with proceedings also scheduled at the Kabarnet Environment and Land Court on October 14.

Separately, two former Kenya National Bureau of Statistics officials, Antony Kyalo Kilele and Fred Moses Ayiela, are listed for a court appearance on October 12 over allegations of failure to comply with procurement laws.
The allegations against the former officials relate to the award of a storage contract and authorisation of payment to B.M. Logistics (EA) Ltd, which the EACC describes as a non-existing company.
The cases form part of the commission’s ongoing efforts to pursue corruption-related offences and recover public assets through the courts.
