Kenya Power announces Sunday blackout in Nairobi, Uasin Gishu and Kirinyaga

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu and Kirinyaga counties on Sunday, October 11, 2026, to facilitate maintenance work.

In a notice dated October 10, 2026, the utility said the outages would affect selected areas in the three counties, with interruptions scheduled to last between eight and nine hours.

In Nairobi, the maintenance will affect parts of Mombasa Road from 8 am to 5 pm.

The affected customers include Alpha Centre, REREC Offices, Nice & Lovely, Manchester Knit, Viraj Complex, Crown Health and Auto Express.

The interruption will also affect Total Petrol Station opposite Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu County

In Uasin Gishu, the planned maintenance will affect Lumama and Mugumu areas from 9 am to 5 pm.

Other affected locations include Lumama Primary School, Manyonyi, Malaika, Marakusi, Makutano Market and adjacent customers.

Kirinyaga County

In Kirinyaga, electricity supply will be interrupted in parts of Gathigiriri and Karira from 8 am to 5 pm.

The affected locations include Lainisha, Budget, Stadium, MRM, NIB, Airstrip, Gathigiriri Prison, Mithuthiini, Kiamanyeki Mwea Mosque and Karira Hospital.

Other areas listed in the notice are Mwanikis Residence, Joseph Muthike, Nguka, Ndorome, Marura, Kangiciri, Gakungu, Nice Borehole and Topgrade Millers, alongside adjacent customers.

Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to plan for the scheduled interruptions.
