Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has hosted and celebrated the Monire Junior Secondary School football team after its impressive run to the national JSS soccer championship.
The team, from Rongena Manaret Ward in Sotik Sub County, recently represented Kenya at the 2026 KJSEA East Africa Ball Games Competition held in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Governor Barchok commended the players, their teachers and coach Nicholas Rotich for their dedication, discipline and commitment to excellence both on and off the pitch.

I today hosted Monire JSS football team who recently represented Kenya at the 2026 KJSEA East Africa Ball Games Competition in Morogoro, Tanzania. Monire JSS is located in Rongena Manaret Ward, Sotik Sub County,”Barchok stated.

“We celebrate Monire JSS led by their coach Mr. Nicholas Rotich, for their outstanding performance and for raising the flag of Bomet County in the region,” Barchok said.
The governor said the team’s success, coupled with the recent performance of Bomet APS FC in the Kenya Premier League, was evidence that the county was emerging as a football powerhouse.
“We have indeed shown that Bomet County is a land growing into a potential football giant,” he said.
Barchok also used the occasion to encourage young people in the county to nurture their sporting talents, noting that sports could provide opportunities for rewarding careers.

The governor also recognised Salome Chepngeno, a Form Three student at St. Paul’s Special High School, Ndanai, who represented Kenya in sitting volleyball at the East Africa Games.
He congratulated Chepngeno for her achievement and encouraged other learners to pursue their talents alongside their education.
