Passengers aboard a Jambojet flight from Nairobi to Kisumu were forced to disembark on Sunday morning after the aircraft experienced a system caution alert before takeoff, prompting the airline to abort the flight as a safety precaution.
In a statement issued on Sunday, July 26, 2026, Jambojet said the incident involved Flight JM 8650, operated by aircraft registration 5Y-JXL, which was scheduled to depart Nairobi for Kisumu at approximately 6:00 am.
The airline said the crew halted the takeoff immediately after the system alert was detected to allow for safety checks.
“Flight JM 8650 from Nairobi to Kisumu experienced a system caution alert before takeoff and as a safety precautionary measure, takeoff was aborted,” the airline said.
Jambojet confirmed that all passengers and crew safely disembarked from the aircraft and received assistance from the airline’s ground team.

The aircraft was later moved back to the bay for technical evaluation by the airline’s maintenance team.
Apologies to affected travellers
The carrier apologised for the inconvenience caused by the incident, reiterating that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority.
“We sincerely apologize for the distress and inconvenience this incident may have caused and assure that the safety and well-being of our guests and crew remain our top priority,” the statement added.
The airline did not immediately indicate when the affected passengers would be rebooked or whether the incident would affect other scheduled flights.
