Kalonzo to Ruto: Your days are numbered; Kenya will not wait for you to count them

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned President William Ruto that his administration’s time in power is running out, accusing the government of failing to honour Kenyans’ trust.

Responding to messages of support, Kalonzo said Kenya needed leadership anchored in courage, clarity and an “unshakeable commitment” to the people.

“To the Ruto regime, hear the words written on the wall long before we arrived at this hour: Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin. Your days are numbered, and Kenya will not wait for you to count them,” he said.

Kalonzo said public trust could only endure when it was honoured through action rather than political promises.

“The trust of the people endures only when it is honoured, not merely spoken about. That is the leadership I offer,” he said.

The Wiper leader said his leadership agenda would focus on rebuilding trust, strengthening public institutions and protecting the Constitution.

He also invoked a Gĩkũyũ saying, “Gũtirĩ ũtukũ ũtakĩa,” which means there is no night, however long, that does not end in dawn.

“Kenya’s night has been long. But dawn is coming, and together we shall…” Kalonzo said.

His remarks come as opposition leaders intensify political engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election, with calls for unity and a change of leadership forming part of the emerging campaign messaging.

The statement places Kalonzo’s political message around governance, constitutional protection and public accountability, while directly challenging the Ruto administration’s record.
