Linda Mwananchi rally set for April 19 in Nakuru

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi team is set to hold a political rally in Nakuru town on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as the movement intensifies its grassroots mobilisation efforts.

The rally was announced by Joshua Ayika, an aide to Siaya Governor James Orengo, who is a key figure within the Linda Mwananchi camp—an emerging outfit largely comprising dissenting voices from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

The planned rally comes amid growing visibility for the movement, which has recently drawn sizeable crowds across various regions, signalling a steady rise in its political traction.

The team’s mobilisation drive began with a maiden rally in Busia, followed by subsequent stops in Kitengela and Kakamega.

After a brief hiatus, the group resumed its activities with a rally in Narok Town.

Birth of Linda Mwananchi

Linda Mwananchi broke from the ODM party after the Orange party, which has been in existence for over two decades, saw its leaders divided on which direction the party should take in preparation for the 2027 election.

This led to two factions: one led by the party leader Oburu Odinga, dubbed ODM Linda Ground, and the other led by Edwin Sifuna, all aiming to outdo each other.

The fallout saw the Linda Ground faction purge allies of the Sifuna-led team from key party leadership organs.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was the first casualty, losing his influential position as deputy party leader.
