Police in Likoni, Mombasa County, have arrested four suspected members of an armed criminal gang following an operation triggered by intelligence reports on their presence in the area.
Officers from Inuka Police Station carried out the operation on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after receiving information that a group of armed individuals had been spotted near Likoni Secondary School.
According to the National Police Service (NPS) statement on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the officers responded swiftly and intercepted four individuals allegedly armed with crude weapons.
“Upon arrival, the response team intercepted four individuals armed with crude weapons, including machetes and a slasher,” the NPS said.
Whereabouts of the suspects
The suspects were subsequently escorted to Inuka Police Station and placed in custody as police commenced the process of preparing them for arraignment.
“The operation followed actionable intelligence indicating that a group of armed individuals had been sighted near Likoni Secondary School,” the police said.
The arrests come as security agencies intensify patrols across the country in an effort to disrupt criminal activities and enhance public safety.
“The National Police Service reaffirms its unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order,” the NPS said.
Police said security patrols had been significantly intensified across the country as part of efforts to combat criminal elements and protect members of the public.
The four suspects remain in police custody pending processing and arraignment in court.
