Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been assigned a seat at Kiaraho Funeral amid earlier attendance row.
According to a statement shared by key ally of Gachagua, Malema TV on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the seating arrangement for the DCP at the funeral has been formally designated, easing earlier uncertainty over his participation in the high-profile event.
Malema stated that the former Deputy President will be seated next to Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot during the burial ceremony.

“The seating arrangement for the second Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, at the funeral of the late Ol Kalou MP, David Kiaraho, has already been designated. He will be seated next to Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot,” Malema confirmed.
The development follows earlier reports suggesting there were plans to block Gachagua from attending the funeral, sparking political speculation and debate.
However, the latest arrangement signals a shift, with organisers now accommodating him among top national leaders expected at the send-off.
“This comes after earlier reports suggested plans to bar him from attending the funeral,” Malema said.
Gachagua had earlier maintained that he would attend the funeral regardless of any opposition, stating he remained resolute in joining leaders and residents in honouring the late legislator.
“However, he has vowed that he will be present regardless, remaining undeterred as he joins others in giving the late MP a befitting send-off,” Malema noted.
The funeral of Kiaraho is expected to draw a host of political figures, leaders, and mourners from across the country as they gather to pay their last respects to the Ol Kalou MP, remembered for his service and contribution to his constituency.
The requiem mass

The local leadership led by Nyandarua Governor Moses Kiarie called for calm and order, urging residents to observe peace and cooperate with authorities during the funeral ceremonies.
Security personnel are expected to be deployed to manage crowds and traffic around the church and burial site.
Kiaraho died on Sunday, March 29, 2026, leaving behind a political gap in Ol Kalou constituency. His death has drawn attention from leaders across the political divide, with many expected to attend his funeral and related events.
