Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party aspirant Vincent Rotich attracted large crowds on Wednesday as he presented his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in Emurua Dikirr ahead of the forthcoming by-election.

Residents turned out in large numbers to escort Rotich to the constituency offices, signalling growing political interest in the hotly contested race.

The procession was led by Narok Town Ward Member of County Assembly Douglas Masikonde, alongside other supporters of the Rigathi Gachagua-led party.

Rotich’s entry into the race comes amid heightened campaign activities in the constituency, widely considered a stronghold of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The DCP candidate has stepped up his campaigns, including night rallies, in a bid to win over voters.

David Keter Dollarline when he appeared before IEBC to seek clearance to vie on UDA Ticker. Keter will face off with Rotich and three other candidates from three other parties.

He is set to face UDA candidate David Keter, popularly known as “Dollarline”, who secured the party ticket after narrowly defeating Bernard Ngeno, alias “Buluu”, by 300 votes in the nominations.

Rotich’s bid gained momentum following the presentation of his nomination certificate by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at the DCP headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi. The event was attended by a delegation of leaders from the Kipsigis community.

Gachagua urged voters to rally behind Rotich, expressing confidence that his victory would secure DCP its first parliamentary seat. He also pledged to actively campaign for the candidate ahead of the by-election slated for May 14, 2026.

The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of area MP Johana Ngeno, who perished in a helicopter crash in February 2026 alongside five others.

The incident created a leadership vacuum and disrupted the constituency’s political landscape, setting the stage for a competitive by-election.
