The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a temporary disruption of some of its online voter services as it undertakes a routine upgrade of its ICT systems.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the commission said the system enhancement is aimed at improving the reliability, security and overall performance of its digital services.
As a result, online voter search services available through the IEBC voter verification portal, as well as voter transfer requests and applications for change of voter particulars, will be temporarily unavailable.

“The Commission wishes to inform stakeholders and members of the public that we are currently undertaking a routine upgrade of our ICT systems to enhance reliability, security and performance of our services,” IEBC said.
The commission, however, assured Kenyans that the ongoing voter registration exercise will not be affected by the upgrade.
“However, the ongoing voter registration at the 290 constituency offices, Huduma Centres and the Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi will continue uninterrupted,” the commission said.
“The Commission will communicate once the exercise is complete. We thank you for your understanding.”
Continuous voter registration
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Erastus Ethekon announced that voter registration will remain open despite the conclusion of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise.
