The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 1,000 internship opportunities under the Ministry of Education’s State Department for Basic Education, targeting ICT and education graduates.
The vacancies are part of the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 5, with successful applicants set to be deployed to schools at the sub-county level.
According to the PSC, the interns will support schools in implementing digital learning while gaining practical skills and experience in ICT and education.
Who can apply?
Applicants must have graduated in 2022 or later and hold any of the following qualifications from a recognised institution:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education specialising in ICT;
- A Bachelor’s degree in ICT;
- A Diploma in ICT; or
- A Diploma in ICT Integration in Education.

Applicants are also required to have knowledge of networking and infrastructure, application development, information security and project management.
They should also demonstrate the ability to integrate ICT into education, particularly in e-learning and digital content development.
The commission said applicants must be willing to work on a full-time basis and be deployed to any sub-county education office.
Candidates who have previously benefited from a similar government internship programme are not eligible.
What will the interns do?
The successful applicants will support the implementation of the Digital Literacy Programme in primary schools.
Their responsibilities will include supporting e-learning and content development, training primary school teachers on the use of digital literacy devices and helping schools improve digital learning.
They will also assist teachers in integrating ICT into teaching, learning and assessment, while promoting the safe, secure and ethical use of technology in schools.

Other duties will include carrying out innovations to improve digital learning, supporting schools in developing policies and procedures and providing first-line ICT support and maintenance.
Internship duration and stipend
The internship will run for 12 months and will not be renewable.
The interns will receive a government stipend at a rate determined by the State Department for Basic Education.
Those who successfully complete the programme will receive an internship certificate from the State Department.
Application deadline
Interested candidates have until October 5, 2026, to submit their applications online through the Public Service Commission job portal.
