DCI arrests Nakuru man over incitement and threats ahead of 2027 polls

A 52-year-old man has been arrested in Nakuru over alleged inflammatory remarks and threats of violence linked to the 2027 General Election.

In a statement on Saturday , June 13, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said detectives from Nakuru West apprehended Isaiah Murithi Andrew following the circulation of a viral video in which he allegedly made inflammatory comments and issued violent threats.

According to the DCI, Andrew, who describes himself as a traditional healer and serves as a speaker at a local Bunge la Mwananchi, was arrested in the Shabab area after investigators launched inquiries into the widely shared video clip.

“Detectives in Nakuru West have apprehended a 52-year-old man following the circulation of a viral video in which he made inflammatory remarks and issued violent threats concerning the upcoming 2027 General Election,” DCI statement read in part.

The agency said the suspect was captured in the video allegedly inciting unlawful assembly, threatening armed violence and calling for resistance against authority.

“In the video, Andrew is seen inciting unlawful assembly by threatening armed violence and calling for resistance against authority. These statements attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies due to their inflammatory nature, raising significant concerns about public safety,” DCI stated.

The remarks, it added, raised concerns among security agencies due to their potential impact on public safety and national security.

Andrew is currently being held in custody as detectives continue with investigations and interrogation.

“Currently, the suspect remains in custody, where he is being processed and interrogated as the investigation continues,” the statement added.

The DCI reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, warning that any form of incitement, hate speech or threats that could undermine peace and security will be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the law.

The agency also urged members of the public to report criminal activities through its toll-free hotline and anonymous reporting channels.

“Any form of incitement or threats that undermine peace and national security will be addressed firmly and in accordance with the law.”
