The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Friday, October 2, 2026, arrested two more Nyamira County Assembly officials over alleged irregularities in the award of a Ksh367 million tender for the construction of an office block.
The anti-graft agency said the tender process allegedly led to the loss of Sh30.18 million in public funds.
The officials arrested are David Nyarango Ombego, the Deputy Clerk and Director of Legislative, Legal Procedure and Committee Services, and Joyce Onyiego, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation.
According to EACC, the two were arrested within Kisii County in a coordinated operation by its investigators.

“EACC has today arrested two more Nyamira County Assembly officials in connection with alleged irregularities in the award of a KES 367 million tender for the construction of an office block for the Assembly,” the commission said in a statement issued on Thursday.
“The irregularities allegedly resulted in the loss of KES 30,187,396 in public funds,” EACC added.
The commission said the two officials are expected to face charges related to alleged abuse of office, willful failure to comply with laws governing management of public funds, and negligence of official duty.
“They are being processed at EACC’s South Nyanza Regional Office in Kisii, pending arraignment,” the agency stated.
Three officials previously charged
The latest arrests bring to five the number of Nyamira County Assembly officials linked to investigations into the tender.
Those previously arrested and charged include Nyamira County Assembly Clerk Duke Simeon Onyari, Chief Officer for Roads and Public Works Eng. Josephat Matini Oruru, and Infrastructure Officer Simon Ondari Ogecha.
EACC said the investigations are centred on alleged irregularities in the procurement and implementation of the Assembly office block project.
The commission has continued to investigate procurement-related cases involving public institutions, with county government projects often under scrutiny over alleged misuse of public funds.
The two officials are expected to appear in court after completion of processing at the EACC South Nyanza Regional Office in Kisii.
