Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has called on residents of Bomet and Kericho counties to turn out in large numbers and warmly welcome President William Ruto when he begins a four-day development tour of the South Rift region on Wednesday.
Ruto is scheduled to tour Bomet and Kericho from Wednesday, September 9 to 12, 2026, where he is expected to inspect, launch and commission a number of government projects. Preparations for the visit are already underway in the two counties.
During the four-day visit, the President is scheduled to launch and inspect several development projects while engaging residents in different parts of the two counties.

Rutto, who is also positioning himself for the Bomet gubernatorial race in the 2027 General Election, urged residents to use the tour to engage the Head of State peacefully and raise issues affecting their communities.
“I call upon the people of Bomet and Kericho to come out and warmly welcome President William Samoei Ruto as he visits the region for a four-day development tour,” Rutto said.
President Ruto’s South Rift projects
He also highlighted various projects undertaken by the Ruto administration over the past four years, saying the President’s visit provides an opportunity for residents to assess the development projects being implemented in the region.
Rutto further called for peaceful engagement throughout the tour, urging residents to maintain order as they interact with the President and his delegation.
“Let us engage the President peacefully throughout his development tour and give him an opportunity to interact with the people and see the projects being implemented in our region,” he said.
Ruto’s four-day South Rift itinerary
On the first day of the tour, Wednesday, the President is expected to visit several locations in Bomet and Kericho counties.
His itinerary will begin at Itembe Airstrip in Bomet, before proceeding to the Bomet Mother & Child Hospital.

He will then head to Bomet Town, where he is expected to inspect road projects, engage with beneficiaries of the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP) and address a public rally.
The President will later proceed to Tegat in Bomet East and Mindililwet in Soin Sigowet.
Day Two — Thursday
On Thursday, the second day of the tour, President Ruto is scheduled to visit Furaha in Kipkelion East, followed by Rungut Primary School in Bureti.
He will then proceed to Kapkatet Stadium, before visiting Kiplokyi in Bomet Central and Kamureito in Sotik.
The day’s programme will take the President through several constituencies, providing an opportunity for residents to interact with him and follow up on development projects in their areas.
Day Three — Friday
On Friday, the third day of the tour, the President will visit Kokwet in Kipkelion West, followed by Kapsoit in Ainamoi.
He is also scheduled to visit Torit Junction before proceeding to Boito in Konoin.
Day Four — Saturday
The final day of the tour, Saturday, will focus on Bomet, with the President expected to visit Chebunyo before concluding the four-day programme in Kericho Town.

The extensive itinerary is expected to give President Ruto an opportunity to inspect government projects, launch new development initiatives and interact directly with residents.
The South Rift tour comes at a politically significant period as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
