President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive Kenya where every citizen enjoys equal rights, dignity and opportunities, saying no Kenyan should feel excluded from national development regardless of religion, ethnicity or region.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Wednesday, August 5, while hosting more than 9,000 Muslim religious leaders from across the country, President Ruto said his government is implementing policies aimed at ensuring that every Kenyan is represented and benefits equally from public services and economic opportunities.
In a Facebook post after the meeting, the President wrote, “It is our duty and responsibility to ensure that the Government of Kenya reflects the face and diversity of our nation and leaves no one behind. No one is Kenyan by accident.”

He added that Kenya’s unity is founded on the Constitution, saying, “We are one people, united by one Constitution, and every Kenyan is entitled to equal dignity, equal rights and equal opportunity.”
The President outlined several measures his administration says are addressing historical inequalities and expanding access to government services, particularly for Muslim communities and residents of previously marginalised regions.
Among the initiatives he highlighted were the abolition of discriminatory vetting in the issuance of national identity cards, the establishment of a Consulate-General in Jeddah to serve Kenyan pilgrims travelling to Makkah and Madinah, and the operationalization of passport application centres in Mombasa and Garissa.

Ruto also said the government has commenced establishing the Waqf Commission to strengthen the protection and management of Muslim charitable endowments, while initiating the formal recognition of Madrasas and Dukuns within Kenya’s education system.
In the Facebook post, he said, “That commitment is reflected in action,” adding that the reforms demonstrate the government’s resolve to translate constitutional guarantees into practical policies.
The Head of State further said his administration is correcting historical disparities through equitable development, noting that Northern Kenya and the Coast region are receiving increased investment in infrastructure and economic opportunities.
“Historically underserved regions, including Northern Kenya and the Coast, are receiving unprecedented investment in infrastructure and economic opportunity as we ensure that no community is left behind,” he wrote.
Looking beyond the current national development blueprint, the President announced that Kenya has begun shaping its long-term strategy after Vision 2030 through what he described as an inclusive national conversation.
“Consequently, we are now charting Kenya’s journey beyond Vision 2030 through an inclusive, people-centred national conversation that will culminate in a National Development Charter, placing Kenya firmly on the path towards becoming a first-world economy,” the President stated in the Facebook post.
The meeting with more than 9,000 Muslim religious leaders formed part of the government’s engagement with faith communities on national unity, inclusion and development, with the President maintaining that no Kenyan should be left behind in the country’s social and economic transformation.
