When Sammy Kioko walked into county offices in search of what he says was rightfully his, he likely did not expect the day would end in distress—and eventually, a hospital bed.
Now admitted at Nairobi West Hospital, the comedian known for making Kenyans laugh finds himself at the center of a troubling ordeal that has stirred sympathy, outrage, and calls for justice.
Among those who have come out to stand with him is Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, whose visit to the hospital carried not just political weight, but a deeply personal touch.
“This evening, I visited Sammy Kioko… Sammy is like a son to me,” Kalonzo shared, his words reflecting a bond that goes beyond public life. “I continue to pray for his quick and full recovery.”

For Kioko’s family, the days have been heavy with worry—watching a loved one, usually full of life and laughter, now forced into recovery after what he describes as a humiliating and painful encounter.
The comedian has spoken out about the incident, recounting how a routine follow-up on payment allegedly turned into a confrontation. In a video he shared, a county finance official is seen angrily dismissing him—an interaction Kioko says is not new, but part of a frustrating pattern.
“This is what we go through,” he implied through his recording—a glimpse into the often unseen struggles artists face behind the spotlight.
Kalonzo, who also reached out to Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, said the situation calls for more than just investigation—it demands empathy, fairness, and restraint.
“My hope and prayer are that this issue will now proceed with calm, sobriety, and a clear focus on the facts,” he said, urging all sides to allow Kioko the space to heal.
