The Kalenjin Music Festival and Awards (KMFA) marked a major milestone in empowering regional talent by officially presenting outstanding prize awards to winners from its previous edition.
The cash disbursements resolve long-standing unpaid rewards, reaffirming the organization’s dedication to ensuring that creatives are recognized, valued, and compensated for preserving local cultural heritage through music and arts.
Speaking during the event, KMFA organizers expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for his intervention and financial support, which enabled the organization to settle the pending prize balances.
They noted that the President’s backing has injected renewed optimism into the Rift Valley creative economy.
Key Leaders Rally Behind Creatives
The event drew a strong delegation of prominent political leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot and Kapseret MP Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, both of whom played instrumental roles in mobilizing support for the artists.
Delivering his address, MP Oscar Sudi lauded the resilience of local musicians and committed to taking their financial empowerment a step further by championing a dedicated Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) for artists.
