Residents of Chepalungu Constituency have been urged to attend a public participation forum on the proposed upgrade of the Kapkwen–Olbutyo–Siongiroi–Ndanai road, with area MP Victor Koech describing the meeting as a key step in ensuring local involvement in the project.
In a statement issued ahead of the event on Tuesday August 11, 2026, the legislator reminded residents that the forum will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Kimatisio starting at 10:00 a.m.
Koech said the exercise will bring together road users, engineers from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), and the contractor implementing the works.

“This public participation forum is important because it gives citizens and all road users an opportunity to engage directly with the engineers supervising the project and the contractor undertaking the works,” the MP said.
He added that the project is expected to improve connectivity between Kapkwen, Olbutyo, Siongiroi and Ndanai, areas that have long faced transport challenges, especially during rainy seasons.
The MP invited “citizens of goodwill and road users” to attend the meeting and contribute their views on the planned upgrade.
What to expect during the participation
According to the statement, KeRRA engineers will provide technical guidance on the project, while the contractor will outline the scope of works and implementation plans.
The planned forum comes amid growing calls for greater community involvement in infrastructure projects to ensure that local concerns, including access roads, drainage, compensation issues and project timelines, are addressed before major works begin.

Koech concluded his appeal with a message of welcome to residents, saying, “Karibuni,” as he encouraged broad participation in the exercise.
The Kapkwen–Olbutyo–Siongiroi–Ndanai road is considered a strategic link for movement of people, farm produce and business activities within Chepalungu and neighbouring areas of Bomet County.
