Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he plans to meet the mother of former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and disclose what he claims to know about the circumstances surrounding her son’s death.

Speaking during a political gathering at his Wamunyoro residence on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Gachagua said he wanted to first speak to Ng’eno’s mother before making details public.

“I want to tell her how her son was killed and what I know,” Gachagua said, adding that he wanted the bereaved mother to hear the information directly from him before he addressed the wider Kenyan public.

Ng’eno died on February 28, 2026, when a helicopter carrying him and five others crashed at Chepkiep in Mosop, Nandi County. The crash killed all six occupants.

Gachagua has previously raised questions over the circumstances of the crash, alleging that the helicopter was refuelled with suspected contaminated jet fuel at Eldoret Airstrip shortly before the fatal incident.

He has called for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ng’eno’s death.

The former deputy president also used the occasion to push for political cooperation between his Democratic Citizens Party (DCP) and the Wiper Patriotic Front.

“I want to ask for a partnership between the two parties as we also engage the others,” Gachagua said.

He called on DCP and Wiper to unite first before reaching out to other political parties, saying the opposition should build its alliances gradually.

Mimi nauliza DCP na Wiper kwanza tuungane, sindio? Halafu tuongee na wengine, tuendelee polepole, polepole,” he said.
